Intercultural and Language Learning Activities

Small Group Discussions
Online: Practice cultural and intellectual humility in listening to one another respond to the NPR podcast Throughline in groups of 3-5 people for one hour. We are currently offering this opportunity on Mondays at 9pm or Saturdays at 8am by Zoom. Peace Volunteers join as Intercultural Learners and Facilitators when they can from wherever they can.

One-on-One Cultural Ambassadors
Peace Volunteers serve as
Cultural Ambassadors in two ways:
3 in 3: Engage in online or in person cross-cultural show-and-tell with another Cultural Ambassador for 3 times within 3 months, to build cultural self-awareness and other-awareness.
or
If you are in Atlanta, join us when you can on Sundays for the One on One Casual Cross-Cultural Conversations at the Intown Coffeehouse at 9:30am. Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and baked breakfast foods provided. Transportation is also provided from and to Emory, as well as residences near Emory, Villa International and the Lindbergh Marta Station.

Intercultural Assessments and Guidance
Receive the Intercultural Development Inventory assessment, receive a development plan, and engage in intercultural learning with our Peace Volunteers. All our programming is based on research that suggests how people develop their capacities to negotiate and collaboratively problem solve across cultures.

Language Learning
We provide free English language learning opportunities on Sunday evenings, Wednesday evenings, Monday mornings, and Thursday mornings. We provide free conversational language learning opportunities on Sunday evenings in Japanese. Text Ben for more information or to set up and appointment for an interview. See our Languages for Peace Website for more detailed information.
