About us

International Education Peace Volunteers Inc. is an all volunteer-run, education focused, non-faith-based, 501c3 non-profit ngo, serving interested communities in and near institutions of higher education by promoting intercultural learning opportunities through our Peace Volunteers. These educational opportunities are focused on intercultural learning through personal sharing about cultural complexities.  This is not an interfaith or faith--based or religious gathering.

Our Peace Volunteers are current and former International Students, International Scholars, Study Abroad Students, Domestic Students, and other adults who believe international education and global learning can help build intercultural peace. Visit our Instragram account to learn about some of our Peace Volunteers.

Languages for Peace

We have recently included language learning opportunities to support our mission.  We currently have English language learning (ELL) classes and we hope to add other language learning opportunities as well.  Like all International Education Peace Volunteer programs, our language learning classes are free and totally supported by volunteers. Small Group Discussions

Online: Practice cultural and intellectual humility in listening to one another respond to the NPR podcast Throughline in groups of 3-5 people for one hour. We are currently offering this opportunity on Mondays at 9pm by or Saturdays at 8am by Zoom. Peace Volunteers join as Intercultural Learners and Facilitators when they can from wherever they can.

Dinner and Learn

On the third Friday of every month in Atlanta at the Intown Coffeehouse, a Peace Volunteer or two from a particular country will share about it's cultures.  From 7:00-9:30pm.  A tasting of foods and pizza are provided. It is helpful if you let Ben@peacevolunteers.ngo know you are coming.

One-on-One Cultural Ambassadors

Peace Volunteers serve as

Cultural Ambassadors in two ways:

5 in 5: Engage in online or in person cross-cultural show-and-tell with another Cultural Ambassador for 5 times within 5 months, to build cultural self-awareness and other-awareness.

or

If you are in Atlanta, join us when you can on Sundays for the One on One Casual Cross-Cultural Conversations at the Intown Coffeehouse at 9:30am.  Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and baked breakfast foods provided.  Transportation is also provided from and to Emory, as well as residences near Emory, Villa International and the Lindbergh Marta Station.

Intercultural Assessments and Guidance

Receive the Intercultural Development Inventory assessment, receive a development plan, and engage in intercultural learning with our Peace Volunteers. All our programming is based on research that suggests how people develop their capacities to negotiate and collaboratively problem solve across cultures.
